March 30: Understanding the World of Today’s Teenager

Speaker: Heather Flies

Remember when you were growing up and somebody said, “When I was a teenager . . . ”? It seems like the world is changing at hypersonic speed. The world that your children are growing up in is drastically different than the world that you grew up in. Join youth specialist, Heather Flies, for a look at the world of today’s teenager. This seminar is great for any parent, grandparent, or anyone who works with teenagers.

Heather Flies is the Junior High Pastor at Wooddale Church in Eden Prairie, MN. She began her ministry at Wooddale when she joined the staff as the Junior High Associate in 1996. In 1998, she joined the pastoral staff.

Outside the walls of Wooddale Church, Heather spends a great deal of time as a communicator. She is invited into local junior and senior high schools to present on a variety of topics, like self-esteem and abstinence. Heather also brings truth, hope and fun to students at various camps, seminars and retreats locally and across the nation. To get her adult fix, she also speaks to parents and youth workers.

Heather holds a Bachelors in Communication from Bethel University in St. Paul and a Master of Arts in Theological Studies from Bethel Seminary.

Heather and her husband, Chad, (whom she met when he was applying to volunteer in Wooddale’s Junior High ministry!) were married in 2001. Their family includes two Saint Bernards that collectively weigh 325 pounds! Heather loves football, Tigger, the color orange, dominating on the tennis court, and listening to Christmas music 11 months out of the year. She owns 319 bottles of nail polish, 98 pairs of shorts and is addicted to all kinds of sparkling water. She is the daughter of a long-distance truck driver and the youngest of six children.
